Every night I have my 4 yr old daughter say a prayer.
We taught her to start with what she’s thankful for.
She says some pretty basic things:
“I’m thankful for my mom.”
“I’m thankful for my pictures.”
“I’m thankful for my toys.”
Then she says other things that make no logical sense but actually hold profound lessons.
“I’m thankful for I’m sick.”
“I’m thankful that I can play at the park tomorrow.” (She says this even though we didn’t tell her we would go to the park the next day)
“I’m thankful I can have a dress for Christmas.” (How can we not honor that!?)
Why are these profound?
It’s because we can actually be grateful ahead of time.
Meaning we can choose to appreciate blessings, accomplishments, results, before they happen.
You cannot appreciate something ahead of time if you don’t already believe it will happen.
This is why it’s so powerful. You must believe it will happen AND practice gratitude for it.
What if you expressed gratitude today for the successful day you will tomorrow?
What if you woke up in the morning and trusted that work was going to be amazing and you expressed gratitude for it being amazing?
How would that change your day?
Now you might be wondering, “What if I don’t believe the day will be amazing?”
To this I would say, “hop on the phone with me for 20 minutes and I’ll help you.”
Here’s the thing, there are so many thoughts that stop us from embracing everything that is good and wonderful in life.
Having a coach to help you identify those thoughts and to help you understand how you can shift them is life changing.
I would know because I have a coach.
Lucky for you, 20 minutes on the phone with me is FREE.
